This was my entry for an amateur CG contest. The challenge was to make a cover for Blade Magazine. I made a stone age version.

Translation: Blades Magazine volume 23 vernal equinox special edition. Featured article, Torg recommends arrows for hunting bison.
Here is how it was made.
To make the arrowhead I started with a cube and modified it to get a base arrowhead shape. I made a jumble of balls and ellipsoids to subtract from the base to get the knaps.

A similar method created a Clovis spear point.

I copied the arrowhead and spear point and made a rock shape. Then I applied colors and textures to give a realistic appearance and arranged the items.

My technique for the paintings was innovative. Usually, a 3D artist would create a decal texture for each painting but that proved troublesome. So, I used projector lights. These lights project and image. Starting with photos of cave paintings I made the high contrast images below and used them for the projector lights. However, the projected images were bright but the paint must be darker than the rock. Solution: negative light intensity! I set the light intensities, brightness, to a negative number so they “shine darkness” onto objects. This technique allowed me to project the paintings anywhere on the rock and adjust the color and brightness.
