I walked north from the edge of a dirt road and crossed an old road that is now overgrown. Then I went up some valleys. I heard high pitched squeals and walked toward them. Then I found tracks. This picture shows an elk track and a cat track I think. Maybe a bobcat. I may have been on the Indian reservation here.

I saw two bull (male) elk about 50 feet away. I took two pictures but they had their heads down. I also made a movie. They walked away about half a minute after they saw me. Male elk are 5 feet tall at the shoulder and weigh up to 700 pounds.
