Moon Lake is my first attempt to produce an outdoor scene.
The softer glow on the water comes from a spot (cone) light in front of the Moon simulating moonlight.
I could achieve greater depth by placing the camera lower over the water. A technical problem prevents that — polygons too close to the camera are not rendered. Slight blurring of the trees would also add to the scene’s depth. Objects on the lake would show the scale and distance of the hills and concentric ring waves would indicate fish or insects on the surface.
The Moon might be showing parts that are not on the near side and I should rotate the star sphere to move the bright stars away from the Moon. I might rotate the Moon so that the far side is showing. That would add a mysterious quality to the picture.
I used trueSpace 3.2. The hills were produced by the Landmass plug-in from Cool Powers 2. The pine tree model is from www.3dcafe.com or somewhere like that. The star map and Moon textures came from a NASA web site.
