Featuring fossils, cows, junk, and rocks.
I went to a canyon near town for a Birthday walk. A small canyon south of there was unexplored territory for me so I decided to go there. A large piece of private land blocked easy access along the edge of the foothills so I climbed over a rise following the fence.
The canyon. South, right, of here is the small canyon.

This canyon connects to a network of other canyons and ridges. Exploring there requires multi-day camping. The distant mountains are higher elevation and have forests.
As I climbed over the rise I could see dirt roads in the desert. I'll check maps to find them. They could provide easier access to small canyons in this area. Some parts could be 4WD though. I can see my sister's old house from here.
This metal object was near the fence on the rise.
I think there is flatter land above but the goal is the small canyon.
A fossil in the small canyon. Eight or nine inches across.
A rock with another kind of rock in it.
